Gopeshwar (Uttarakhand). Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh shrine located in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, will open to the devotees on 25 May. Narendrajeet Singh Bindra, president of Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, said on Thursday that the doors of Dham will open on May 25 and will be closed on 10 October. He requested the devotees to make their plan accordingly.
Hemkund Sahib is close to Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Situated at an altitude of about 15 thousand feet above sea level, this pilgrimage center remains closed in winter. In spite of the difficult 17 km route from Pulna to the Gurudwara located in the Himalayas, every year a large number of devotees from India and the world arrive here to pay obeisance.
Gurdwara doors are closed due to snowfall in winter
He told that with the arrival of the winter season, snowfall starts, in such a situation, the path of Hemkund Sahib is closed and it is difficult for the people to reach the gurudwara. Keeping this in mind, every year the doors of the gurudwara are closed in the winter season and then after the snowfall stops, darshan starts in the gurudwara. On normal days, the doors of Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara are opened on May 25, but before that the weather conditions are definitely seen.
Last year, more than 2 lakh devotees had taken Mattha
Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has appealed to the devotees to make a plan for darshan. Last year too, the doors of Shri Hemkund Sahib were opened for devotees on 20 May. Last year, more than 2 lakh devotees had attended and bowed in Guru Darbar Sahib.
If the journey is interrupted due to snowfall, then army personnel do this work
Like every year, the journey is interrupted many times due to the snowfall of the Hemkund Sahib visit, but every year lakhs of devotees come. In Shri Hemkund Sahib, Indian Army soldiers work to remove snow. Lakhs of devotees from India and abroad arrive every year to visit Shri Hemkund Sahib and to pay obeisance to Guru Maharaj.
